Feiertage/ Holidays

Hallo,

Beispiel Sicherung:
Montag 19 Uhr, Dienstag 04 Uhr
Dienstag 19 Uhr, Mittwoch 04 Uhr
Mittwoch 19 Uhr, Donnerstag 04 Uhr
...

Was ist hier Best Practice.

Danke

Hello,

We have recently built a new server (WIN 2008 R2) on BEX 2012 and have on other servers still BEX - 2010 in use .

current state backup :
We backup our files in the evening, then certain batch programs run at night and change the data, and at the end of processing we backup again certain files to tape. In BEX - 2010 are the two jobs , one starts at 7pm and the second at 04 am the other day (from 9 pm the batch programs run).

On holidays we take out the two jobs and the batch processing on the date selection list. However, these are two different days at the backups.

BEX 2012
Here I can only remove entire days from the backup calendar. Our backup is always running on two days, when even running other backups .
How do I do this here?
Example backup :
Monday 7 pm, Tuesday 4 am
Tuesday 7 pm , Wednesday 4 am
Wednesday 7 pm , Thursday 4 am
...

Wednesday  is a public holiday , in BEX - 2010, we take the last two jobs out (Wednesday 7 pm , Thursday 4 am).
How to do this in BEX-2012.

The manual states, you can only use whole days and one should use " One-time backups " on the other days . In the example, remove Wednesday and Thursday and then enter Wednesday 4 am and thursday 7 pm manually. However, the one-time jobs can not be copied from the recurring jobs.
Do you have to really completely re- create by hand?

What is best practice here .

Thank you

Hi,

in this article
https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/ideas/exclude-dates-individual-jobs

which ist mentioned in your comment link, I can see that the problem exists since march 2012 and is still not solved.

I wonder, how all the guys manage to work with BEX-2012.

Thanks!

...no idea. Check out what pkh states and see if this helps.

Not sure if this has been fixed with BE 2014 when released.

Thanks!

Note that for BE 2012, if you exclude Wed. and your job starts on 2300 hrs. on Tue. then it would be cancelled if it crosses midnight.

I believe BE 2014 (next release) will bring back exclude dates for individual jobs like older versions of BE.  In the meantime, it would be simpler to avoid using exclude dates.  Just run your jobs as normal for holidays.

Thanks for your help.

We backup on tape, so we can't run our jobs as normal for holidays, because the tape is ejected at the end of the job and on holiday nobody is there to put in a new tape.

So we will use the old BE 2010 until (hopefully) BE 2014 will work with the exclude of dates for individual jobs.

Yes. If you cannot live with the consequences of the BE 2012 exclude date feature, then you should stick to BE 2010 for the moment.  BE 2014 should be out in a few months time.
