  • 1.  File Inventory - How to?

    Hi guys and girls.

I am trying to pull inventory on certain file extensions ie. *.ini.
I used the below article as a guide and clicked the advanced option on my software inventory policy.

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/inventory-solution-70-sp2-introduction-and-troubleshooting-guide

Choose File Properties Scan Settings > Files, selected include rule > file type > equals > *.ini, added platform > equals > windows.
    Clicked OK and Save Changes.

Went back to the above mentioned locations and my inclusions were gone??

Does anyone have the same problem?

Im am upgraded to the latest version of all solutions and there are no errors in the log.

    Thanks
    E

I saw an earlier bug (that has since been fixed) with package servers, that was quite similar. If you did a specific assignment on package servers for a package, and clicked ok on the same tab\page that you made the change on, despite what the dialogs tell you the changes were not saved.

However, if you went back to the original tab (that opens when you doubleclick on the package) and then click on save changes and ok, the package server assignment was saved.

So, in a long winded way of answering your question, try saving the changes on the first tab of the area you are modifying.

    Hi Jim,

Tried this and no luck, this has now been logged with Symantec.
