file inventory not updating - inv_Installed_File_Details

Hello,

 

I created a report to see wich MS Office executables are installed on our systems.

No problem so far, i get my information from the inv_Installed_File_Details  joining the vcomputer view.
The only problem i have is that the  inv_Installed_File_Details is not up to date, not even after a full inventory.

For example after an uninstall of access from the office suit, and after doing a full inventory, a file inventory, the record of msaccess for this pc is not deleted from the database.

 

Anyone has a solution or explanation for this behavior?

Did you make sure that the full inventory is completed and the other details are reflected correctly in the server? Look at the status tab of the inventory file and see when was the last data last changed. Should be like this.

so this is today...

still old executables in the table.

Hmm...Looks like that is reporting correctly. Let's do a different test to make sure that your computer record shows that the access is removed. If you open the Resource manager of one computer that had MS access removed, do you see MS access still under here:

Inventory Tab,

Drill down to Software > SW Audit software

Look for a product name called Microsoft Access. If it doesn't, look at the Status tab on tab and see if the data is reporting correctly.

i think you are using another version of the management console. we use 7.0

but i found another person with the same isue : http://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/file-deleted-endpoint-still-present-database-after-complete-inventory - also no solution yet.

I am sorry, my fault.. I keep looking at my NS 6.0 console too and forgot about your environment. Actually, in 7.0, look here:

Resource manager -> View->Inventory->\Data Classes\Software Management> AddRemoveProgram.

 

I will also do some test on mine and see if I face any issue like yours. Stay tuned.

Does this KB get you anywhere?  7.0 has a problem with the Inv_Installed_File_Details data class:
