Files missing from selected folders in BE 2010 R2

Created: 07 Jun 2013 | 3 comments

I have been experienceing an issue where some files in a given folder (this happens in many locations) will not backup while others will.

There are no exclusions listed in either BE or ntbackup. Seems to happen without any identifiable pattern. I am able to go and manually backup those missing files if I choose to do so, but they do not backup in the normal job.

Are you seeing exceptions in the job log where the files are skipped??

I hope this posting was helpful

Hello,

Do you have any anti virus running on the servers?  If so use this document as a reference for information on making exclusions in the virus scan for the Backup Exec processes http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH168940  (even though it may be for a different version or type of anti-virus software).

What is the error messages that you get to indicate that the files are not backed up?

If NTBackup also cannot back up these files, it is unlikely to be a BE problem.

Have you check that your disk is not corrupted by running chkdsk /f from a command prompt.  When you run chkdsk, make sure you use the /f switch so that any errors can be fixed.
