Filtering Email Subscriptions

This issue has been solved. See solution.

I subscribe to several different tags on these forums. As a result I am being inudated with emails on products we don't own. How do get it to only email me on the product I own, and not the ones I don't?

I subscribe to these tags:

  •  Endpoint Management
  •  Tip/How To
  •  Configuring
  •  Reporting

We own:

  •  Altiris Client Managment Suite 7.1 SP2b
  •  Altiris Deployment Solution Core 7.1 MR1
  •  Altiris Inventory Solution 7.1 SP2
  •  Altiris Patch management Solution 7.1 SP2
  •  Altiris Software Managment Solution 7.1 SP2
  •  Symantec pcAnywhere Solution 12.6.7

I'm getting emails on products we don't own like:

  •  NetBackup
  •  PGP
  •  eVault
  •  SEP
  •  Altiris Service Desk
  •  Backup Exec
  •  Symantec Exec 2012
  • Symantec Messaging Gateway

Hi Scott,

I also get this, but what happens a lot of the time is that the OP (original poster) simply selects as much as they can to get exposure. Not the done thing, but educating them to select what is relevant is the only way!

Thanks!

Hi Scott,

Craig speaks the truth. Sometimes users post where they will.

Not sure if you've tried this but you might try to use the "tags" functionality to subscribe to specific products.

It looks like you're currently subscribed to a number of various threads. This can happen because of your profile settings that automatically subcribe you to threads you respond to and to threads posted to groups you are a member of.

So, you may want to:

  1. Review / clean up your current subscriptions (look under the notifications tab on your profile page).
  2. Subscribe to product-specific posts using the "tags" feature.
  3. Modify the autosubscribe settings in your user profile.

I've already picked my tags with care. I've changed them all from Hourly to Daily. Hopefully this makes it a little more manageable.
