Issue -
have a second policy set up to archive all mail for users in a particular OU-
all looks okay - appears on Provisoning report
When checking policies applied to users in the particular OU- that looks all okay ( display policies assigned to mailboxes feature)

Have tried applying the policy to the OU - have also tried using LDAP - on both occassion all looks as though it will work - but does not

If I manually archive - all works okay

The order of the policies looks fine - Archive  All assigned to particular OU BEFORE ordinary archive assigned to Organization.

Are there any issues with moving a mail box from one policy to another policy ?

Any ideas - - been going on for years - currently running Entreprise vault Version: 8.0.2.1693

No error in event log - nothing seems amiss - just the specific mail box never seems to pick the assigned policy - though carries on applying the ordinary 30 day archive.

Our main archive policy - 30 days - is applied at Organization level - Of note when we tried it at the specific OU holding majority of the users - no archiving took place -

Its as though there something stopping archiving - but works work when applied to the Organization ?

Can I increase logging - which may give some more 'clues' ?

Have you used EVPM to apply

Have you used EVPM to apply any policies to mailboxes? EVPM overrides policy changes but don't think this is your case.

Ensure that synchronization runs after moving the mailbox to a different policy so the hidden message holding the settings is updated with the new ones, you can dtrace ArchiveTask processs while doing a Run Now of the affected mailbox and look for the line containing "EPC" to see the policy settings for the mailbox.

Hello Julianrv, to confirm -

Hello Julianrv,
to confirm - we have not run EVPM to apply policies.

By "Synchronization" do you mean the Provisioning Task ? ( we have this run twice a day ?

Provisioninh

You can run provisioning in Report mode.
Check the report for the users in the OU
When ok, run Provisioning in normal mode
When ok, Sync the mailboxes of the users you want to archive.

Goto properties of the archiving task, sync tab, sync selected mailboxes, select mailboxes , sync. Make sure to wait for the sync to finish.

When done, run the archiving in report mode
Rightclick task, run now, report mode, select the users (or 1 if you know one)
Check the report.
When ok, run the task normally.

Let us know.

Thank you, Gertjan

Have changed the Provisioning

Have changed the Provisioning task so that the Reporting is full -

This shows the mail box that should have the zero day archive policy applied is included.

- When trying the above, a manual sync report for specific mail boxes produces a reports showing the zero day archive-

However the automatic archiving still does not take place but works fine when manually running the archive all.

no further forward

Schedule?

Hello MJScreen1

Is your site schedule allowing archiving? Is there a schedule set on the task?

If becessary, do a dtrace on the archiving task. You should be able to do this from within the console.
Logon to the ev-server running the task.
Click Tools, Advanced Features. Then expand the server you have the task on. You should have a ' trace' option
New trace, select mailboxarchiving, exchange
set options.
When the trace is running, rightclick the task, and do a run now on the task supposed to archive items for the 0-day policy.
select a user you know should get items archived.

When done check the logfile. Perhaps you see something in there. If not, log a support case.

Good luck
