This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi

We use the MSL 4048 with BE 2010 R3.

? Assuming i pull out some of the tapes out of the auto loader, how  do i force BE to see that the tape slot is now empty

I use Inventory when adding new tapes, and for now, I restart the services to make force BE to see that that something has changed.

Is there a diffrent method to force BE see the change without restarting the services?

Again, this is only for tapes that BE already knows, for new tapes i know i must use Inventory.

Thanks

Dori

Hi,

Run inventory. Be service restart is not required. You may try running Scan.

Hi,

You need to catalog a tape to read the tape's contents. Running an Inventory will only alert BE and the library to what tapes are contained in the library.

If you have barcodes on the tapes, then running a Scan job will quickly indicate what is contained in the library, but not on the tapes.

Thanks!
