hello,
Support always said : no way to force a client update regarding definition files for Antivirus and others... Only have to wait the next Heartbeat...
I received an email from another IT saying a simple 'Update policy' or 'smc -updateconfig' do this heartbeat.
Can someone help me ? Is it right ? I though the update policy or smc... only updated the policy...
Thanks in advance

You are indeed correct:
• smc -updateconfig
Updates the configuration of the Client by forcing a heartbeat, thus pulling the latest configuration from the Management Server.
Note that this does not always change the "last check-in time" displayed in the SEPM console -- that value changes only when a client's status changes.
Heartbeats do not necessarily cause a status change, so the value of this may not always change.

Hello,
Force definitions to SEP clients could be done by -
1) Right click on the Group / Client within the Group and Click on "Run Command on Group" and Click on "Update Content".
2) Under client Computer, Start > Run > Type 'smc -updateconfig' (without quotes) and click OK
3) Opne the SEP client > Click on Help > Troubleshooting > Click on "Update Policy".
4) Right click on the SEP client ICON on the Task Bar and Click on "Update Policy"
NOTE: All the above points would work on simple condition - the clients should be communicating to the SEPM properly.
Hope that helps!!

Hi Xtof,
If you don't want to do manual work then clients will receive updates only after next heartbeat intervals
If you wish to update clients immediately then you have other options as stated by Mithun & weevil.

Hi all,
thanks a lot for your help.
So I don't understand why support said it was not possible to force a client update regarding policies... My problem was to force a client update when computer was in quarantine (Host integrity option). SepLiveUpdate only request update on LUA and I wanted to have a SEPM update. Answer was : impossible...
So I understand that I can use the smc -updateconfig to force the update.
And i'm surprised to read that a 'update policy' do a heartbeat... So force a definition update as well...
Am I right on this ?
Regards
