Forgot to renew Symantec Endpoint Subscription
Created: 29 Mar 2011 | 4 comments
We noticed a few days ago that we had forgot to renew our Symantec Endpoint support agreement. I spoke to our account rep at CDW who stated that after he checked with his Symantec experts, that to get back into Symantec's good graces, we needed to purchase new upgrade licenses at about $21/user. Our accounting dept doesn't trust CDW (long story), and called Symantec directly, and the rep said that while he hadn't heard of a policy like that, that didn't mean it wasn't true.
Accounting then called Tigerdirect, who said that CDW was lying and that we just needed to purchase renewal skus at $15/user. With 225 users, $6 adds up quick.
Who's correct here, and is there actual documentation from Symantec about this?

While I don't work for our sales or licensing department. I'm pretty sure the guy from CDW was not being fully truthful with you. If you want accurate information, I would suggest calling the licensing department at 1-888-727-8671.

If your support contract has
If your support contract has been expired for more than 90 days, then CDW would be correct.
However, if your support contract has not been expired for more than 90 days, you do have the option to do a "normal" renewal
As always, if you are more than 90 days expired, exceptions can be made, it is a matter of the exception being approved. To apply for an exception, you would need to speak with the Symantec Sales Team @ 1-800-745-6054
