    Hello guys,

I need to recover a server, I do not have much time so I need you experience on this.

    I have :
    - database backups in c:\prog files\symantec\sep manager\data\backup as .zip files
    - I have keystore information and data
    - I have the domain ID

But I do not have the database encryption password. All I have on that are a few guesses.

What will happen if I type that password wrong and keep on restoring the database?

    Thanks and regards,

    Hi Bekir,

If you refer to this document, in step 6, it is mentioned that " Encryption Password is not required if you have a backed up database to restore, but it is a best practice."

    http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/330614.htm

    Hope that answers your question.

    Aniket

    Database encryption

If the database encryption password is lost, there is no way to recover except to uninstall and reinstall the product.

    Hi Bekir.

If you want to recover SEPM with out encryption password follow these steps.

Install fresh copy of SEPM with default settings.
    Restore the database.
Restore server.xml and kestore.jks files to their respective places.
    reconfigure SEPM.

This will bring ur server back.

I have a SEP Manager whose version is 11.0.5002 and running its database on SQL 2000.

Now the server's SEP Manager service won't start and I cannot fix it. It looks like something is wrong with the DB.

Meanwhile I want to start using SQL 2005 instead so I will be installing a new server as you said.

Can I recover the DB of SQL 2000 into SQL 2005 ?

    Thanks
