This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi,

Today i have 10 archive jobs of different clients failed with error 48 after some time i manually initiated the job it ran fine.

I have 2 question here:

1) i have run through Ping, bpclntcmd, bpbkar, eventvwr, i unable to find the reason for the failure...Please help me to find the reason.

2) after i manually initiate the archive jobs, next time onwards it should run as per the frequecy that is every 1 hour, but it did not happened

Note: the one hour frequency is not working for those 10 clients only and rest of the archives are running as per the schedule.

Please provide the soultion, what could be the reason.

I have updated the policies using nbpemreq -updatepolicies command but it did not worked.

Regards,

Chan

Can i assume you mean backup rather than archive? (Archives are a manual process run from the client and so do not schedule)

You have a frequency of one hour but what is the actual backup window?

Please show us the output of bppllist policyname -U

What happens when you run /usr/openv/netbackup/scripts/PHUB/Archive_Sweep_back on the client?

Is ORA_PROD_BKP a storage unit or group.

I assume the policy above is one of 10, i.e., 1 per client, is that correct?

p whelan's picture

P.S.

When you run it manually, how long does it take?

Chan_backup's picture

when i run manually it takes 3 to 4 min to completes and archive backups is running fine.

ORA_PROD_BKP is a SLP.

yes it is one of those 10 clients.

p whelan's picture

Does the SLP use a storage unit or group. In other words, is there more than one media server and do the clients backup to different media servers or always the same one?

Status 48 says gethost failed.  Try these commands on the Master server:

bpgethost -by_name mr01l01e.sap.com

  then

bpgethost -by_addr (ip address from previous cmd)

Hi,

my archive backups are not running as per the frequency set in hourly basis, please help me on that.

Mark_Solutions's picture

Depending on what your settings are on the Master Server (Master Host Properties - Global Attributes - Schedule backup attempts then if you get that number of errors (you say status 48) then the job will not run again until the period has elapsed,

So the default is 2 tries in 12 hours - so if you get 2 failures with Status 48 it will not run again for 12 hours regardless of what your schedule window is

Run a problems report against this client for 3 or 4 days to see if that is the case

If so you need to get resolution between the Master and Client sorted out as per the advice from wr
