Hi all
I am trying to configure FSA archiving against a FSA NetApp filer using EV 8 SP2
We have one EV server doing the Email archiving and one for the FSA archiving . Email and PST import from home drives on the netapp have been working fine

I have added the filer as a target and I am trying to add a volume \ share that is hidden. When I click browse and then hidden type It does not show the hidden shares and just C$ and a couple of folders under C$ but not the C:\vol\sharefolder I was expecting.

If I just type in the share name such as user$ it comes up with the error below

"Could Not Read the Data Ontap  Version for file server unspecified error"
I Click next and it says
"Error occured while listing policies. Check vault directory account is running and computer is reachable on the network"

The services are fine

When the documentation says the EV service account needs to be admin of the NetApp what exactly does this mean. using Manage my computer and pointing it at the NetApp the EV service account is a member of local Administrators. Is this enough? I am assuming it is as it has been working fine with the locate and Import PST function for the user home drives on the Netapp.

The NetApp is using Ontap 7.3.1.1 and is managed by a third party

Am I doing somethong wrong here as its the first time I have used EV against a NETApp for FSA normally a standard file server

Thanks

J

Hi SolarP,Just found some

Hi SolarP,

Just found some old notes about the NetApp.   The last time I used a NetApp (long long time ago) I had to undertake the following;

1. Logon to Filer Admin
2. Go to Volume, Manage, QTree
3.  Select Security Style and change it from UNIX to "Mixed"

I could then set the permissions in the normal way from Windows (Add the VSA to the Administrators group).    Something else I vaguely remember about the NetApp was an FPolicy set on the device that meant I couldn't attach to it...

Hope that helps in some way?
BZ

Thanks BZ
I can add it to Administrators but as you say there may be some epolicy thing going on.
I am back on there on Tuesday and will have a word with the Admin of the NetApp filer

Is there no other documentation about config with a NetApp filer as seems to be a little sparse of exactly what needs doing on the NetApp

Cheers

Julian

Hi Julian, Unfortunately not,

Hi Julian,

Unfortunately not, I had the Administators guide to hand at the time.  If there's an admin onsite s/he is your best bet for helping with the NetApp setup.

Thanks,
BZ
