FSA Placeholders with wrong URL

This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi all,

We've done a move of both an FSA vault to a vault server in the same site, as well as restored the FSA placeholers to a new File server.  FSA has been installed on the new Fileserver and Archive points created.

I can retrieve files from Archive Explorer from the new vault aok, but my Placeholders all still point at the old Vault server (if i turn the old vault server off and try a Placeholder, i get event log errors showing the failure, and the URL is definitely the old server).

Have tried replacing placeholders with FSAUtility, but it does not seem to change the URL.

Is the only option to restore everything and then re-archive? Is there a way of bulk-modifying the Placeholders?

regards,

Justin

Hi Justin

Try this registry key on the file server. Restart the placeholder service and test recalls again.

HKLM\Software\KVS\Enterprise Vault\FSA\PlaceholderService\

DWORD: EnableDynamicUrl = 1

You could also setup a Cname in DNS for the old address to point to the new EV server?

Hi John,

sorry for the late reply - that did the trick for most files, have just been sorting a few exceptions (missing DVS files, hooray).

Kudos,

Justin
