Trying to download a manual from symantec's ftp but it requires a username and a password.

http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/290203.htm

Must be some kind of error?

Not sure if there's an underlying issue here

as another poster has encountered pretty much the same thing.

Also, just tried a lot of other links with pretty much the same result - Symantec ftp server issue?

OK trying to get to site : https://exftpp.symantec.com/pub/support to manually download viral updates, asking for credentials.

Hi Foxtrot_Lima / Andy, I

Hi Foxtrot_Lima / Andy,

I experienced a similar problem yesterday and notified our IT staff who is working on the problem.  Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for posting the problems.

Cheers Doug.

Is there a recommended route for us guys to report such things, or just post a query like Foxtrot_Lima did & hope that someone like yourself picks up on it?

Regards Andy

Ok for me

for the link that Foxtrot_Lima stated above & every other I've tried.

What's the URL you're trying to access?

***EDIT***

I lie, sorry. Worked for the document but not the ftp.

***EDIT #2***

Appears to be working again!

Seems ok for me as well

The only time I've been prompted for a login for ftp is when I'm needing to download binaries created for a support case, or for uploading logs for a support case.

We were referring to the links provided on the web-site

that point to pdf documents etc.

e.g. the link that Foxtrot_Lima posted above directs you to another site to download the pdf (in this instance ftp://exftpp.symantec.com/pub/support/products/NetBackup_Enterprise_Server/290203.pdf ) & it was this link (or this server) that was causing an issue with "unauthorised login" or some-such when it should just automatically download - this is now ok.

Congratulations, you have earned 1 point for your "me too!" post

...and now *I* have earned 1 point for responding to it!  ;-)

Now, to earn my point...

If anybody else is looking for documentation, please PM me and I'll see what I can email you.  (I've already PM'd a few of you.)

(Release updates are a little too big to email, though, so unfortunately if that's what you need, that'll just have to wait until the server is back up.)

Yes, I have not been able to

Yes, I have not been able to download a manual for several days. I've tried Windows and Mac systems, Internet Explorer and Fetch.

Have seen same issue

I have seen the same issue with the FTP server recently.

I found that the login 'anonymous', with my email address as a password worked, at least for getting to things in /pub.
