See http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH77211

If the names in  /etc/VRTSvcs/conf/sysname and in main.cf and llthosts are all the same, then it could be the  system names are too long.

Is  /etc/VRTSvcs/conf/sysname deprecated in 6.0.1, what is the syntax for this file?

See extract from 6.0.1 VCS admin guide:

How VCS identifies the local system

VCS checks the file $VCS_CONF/conf/sysname. If this file does not exist, the local
system is identified by its node name. To view the system’s node name, type:
# uname -n

The entries in this file must correspond to those in the files /etc/llthosts and
/etc/llttab.

Very often the system logs from the same time will conatin valuable information. Did any messages appear in this  case?

@Mike  - i doubt if the 'sysname' entry has any bearing on gabconfig command.

Thanks and Warm Regards,

I got this info from technote http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH77211  - if sysname has no bearing on gab error then I guess technote should be updated - extracts from technote:

GAB /sbin/gabconfig ERROR V-15-2-25022 unknown error

The cause of the GAB driver configuration issue is inconsistency in system name in VCS configuration.

To fix the issue, follow the procedures below:

1. check and made sure that the GAB module is loaded.

2. check and make sure that the system name in /etc/VRTSvcs/conf/sysname and in main.cf and llthosts are same
