  • 1.  Gather Serial Number from SNMP Net Discovery

I've performed an SNMP walk against a CISCO device and I've found the Serial Number.  How can I get the Network Discovery to associate the data returned by the OID to the serial number?  I'm not 100% on the MIB because the SNMP walk report the MIB as the following: SNMPv2-SMI::mib-2.47.1.1.1.1.11.1.  I'm familiar with importing mib, but I don't know how to find the correct MIB file.  I've been to OIDview.com.

I believe I found a solution.  I created a new SNMP Data Mapping.  I found the OIDs to be in the Entity MIB.  The overall process was found in HOWTO42454.

I find the difficult part is determining the correct OID.  I performed an SNMP walk of a device and found the OID which contained the desired information.  After much searching I found the OID was in the Entity MIB.

There is one oddity with the retrieved information.  There are multiple entries return for the device.  It seems the first row has the correct information; I'm not sure what others are.  The extra rows may complicate reporting.

I've also found an article which discusses reporting on SNMP devices.  The article shows a new table is created for the new SNMP Data Mapping.  I'm guessing reports may need to be custom.
