Hi

In one windows xp pc, I tried to install symantec endpoint protection client and it took a long time to cross the "Gathering required information" and after few hours it finished completely.

now i decided to uninstall and load the latest version but still it is the same symptom

Please figure out why it is taking so long time since we have to load the same in couple of pc's!

Go to start and type Run In

Go to start and type Run

In Run window type %temp%

Look for a file called SEP_Inst.log

In the log file search for Return Value 3

Copy and paste 6-7 lines before this line

Get all the instance of Return Value 3

Swami, No , it will not

Swami, No , it will not finish by tomorrow when you wilk come to office. It is stuck some were. Cancel the install.

Download the process monitor and then run the install and the process monitor at the same time and see at which stage it is  stuck?

Also is this the same machine

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/unable-load-unmanaged-client-xp ??

If this is the same machine , i think you have already invested huge amount of time, Please reimage the machine and then try to install SEP

I solved the issue!

Hi

I solved the issue by ending the msi process for the symantec uninstaller and forced to stop the uninstallation.

Then I used cleanwipe utility. It also got stuck in the same stage .I did the same forced ending the process of msi for symantec and after that gathering information disappeared and the remaining items got removed by cleanwipe.

To the particular pc I have loaded Kaspersky antivirus 2011 which is working good and installation issues

Hi Prachand! This is not the same pc which I am still having " the issue of unmanaged client problem"

Thanks & Regards

Hi Prachand

Hi

Before looking your post I solved the problem through one of my colleague who disabled those yellow marks items in the device manager.

It solved the issue and now the pc is completely working fine

Anyway thanks for your prompt reply

Swaminathan
