Is it OK for x32 and x64 clients to be in the same group?  If you use SEPM to push out an upgrade do the clients get the appropriate binary, x32 get a x32 install and x64 get a x64 package?

Just starting down the road of switching over from 10 and only have a handfull of clients running SEP but before I got too far I wanted to make sure I didn't have to break everything up into x32 and x64 sub groups as well.  Updated my management server to RU6MP1 today and through I should ask before trying out the upgrade feature in the management console.

    Thanks,

32bit and 64bit should be moved into their own groups.  Client upgrades would fail otherwise.

--Yes, there is no issue with that

If we have both the 32 bit and 64 bit client in the same group for the auto upgrade you have to push the packge twice , once for 32 bit and next time for 64 bit

On the first time all 32 bit will update and 64 bit will reject the pacakge  or we can say the install will fail

Second time vice versa will happen

So, if there are both x32 and x64 SEP client on the same group, just add x32 installation package and x64 installation package into the group at the same time.

32 and 64 bit both together in 1 group will work fine. Only you will have to assign both 32 and 64 bit package. There won't be any problem as such..Just for ease of management it is suggested to have both in diffrent groups.

Yep tried it out on test group, with the upgrade notice option.  The clients get the appropriate pacakge.  Even though I said it was OK to reboot the clients still shows as needing a reboot after the upgrade.

Now to figure out why networking stops when doing "smc -stop", or during upgrades.

    Thanks everyone,
