We encounter this error message (0xc0000018) whenever we open the computer and once we exit the error message we are only getting a black screen. Restarting the machine sometimes work, sometimes not. Another thing we have observed is that this only happens to users who has Windows 7 64 bit installed. We have tried the below solutions:

    1. Deleted this file (APPINIT_DLLS) from the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Windows
    2. Run the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe)
    3. Performed clean boot
    4. Uninstalled the two windows updates (KB3045685 and KB3045999)

Kindly see below image we got from eventviewer. The conflict was with DLP and it seems similar to the situation of McAfee.

Is this your solution are are you still experiencing issues?

There have beem a few known issues between Mcafee and SEP in the past.

    Hi Brian,

This is not a solution and we are still experiencing the issue. The above steps are the things we have tried from surfing the net. We have even tried contacting Microsoft but they're suggesting it's a third party issue. The only fix that worked for us so far is upgrading the unit to Windows 8.1. I'm hoping someone can give us a working solution without formatting the computer.

What components are installed? Have you tried disabling one by one to narrow it down?

What is the exact version of SEP?

Softwares installed on the computer: TeamViewer,MS Office, Adobe Reader, Flash player, Java, WinRaR, Symantec 12.1.4013.4013 and Cisco AnyConnect.

We had performed a clean boot but still getting the error. Unfortunately, the only thing we cannot disable during clean boot is SEP due to rights and restrictions.

I meant what components of SEP? The full suite including NTP and PTP? Application and device control?
