Does the error occur only during verification jobs?
Try running a verify job separately.

Make sure that the tape is not attached to a RAID controller.
Check for the latest drivers:

Hi Aravind,

Yes, the error is occuring during the verification job.

Please provide best possible step to run verify seperately.

We have external tape drive with SCSI ID set to 0 and RAID 5 configured on our server.

PLEASE SUGGEST....

Thanks/Regards,

To run verify job separately:
On the navigation bar, click Job Setup. Under Backup Tasks in the task pane, select New job to verify backup data. Select the media you want to verify.

Look at the system event log and see if you have any event IDs 7, 9, 11 or 15 which indicate hardware problems.

Does this happen always on the same tape?
Did you try updating the drivers of the SCSI controller and the Veritas drivers used for the drive. Here are the latest Veritas drivers for the drive:
http://support.veritas.com/docs/285593

Check also for hard read/write errors in the devices tab.

Contacting the vendor should be the last resort.

Thanks For your prompt response...

Dear I am using Standalone drive... and in the given list there is no drivers for standalon drive.

And I am facing this for all the tapes....

If I not unable the Verify option, than the backp is completed sucessfully.. but not able to restore the data...

Also I am not able to Format the DLT Tape... Please suggest....
