  • 1.  Getting the following Log errors in SMP 7.1 SP2 MP1

    Dear All,

I am getting log errors like this below every few minutes. The :

A machine (IP: <SITE SERVER HOST IP>: Host: <SITE SERVER HOST IP>) other than a Task Server configured through Site Servers is trying to access the database.
       at Altiris.TaskManagement.ClientTask.BaseWeb.ExecSqlCommand.WriteResponse(XmlTextWriter wr)
       at Altiris.TaskManagement.Common.XmlHttp.BaseXmlXmlHttpCallback.WriteResponseRaw(XmlTextWriter xwr)
       at Altiris.TaskManagement.Common.XmlHttp.BaseXmlHttpCallback.ProcessRequest(HttpContext context)","Altiris.TaskManagement.ClientTask.*","w3wp","15"

I don't think that the Site Server Task Service is installed upon the Agent (it is only a Package Server in Site Services), but it is possible (no visibility). If the Task Service were installed on this machine, but the SMP server is not configured for this in Site Services, then might this be the reason or is this a general issue with SMP 7.1 SP2 MP1?

    Kindest regards,

    QuietLeni

Yes, this is normally caused by a Site Server that is running the Task Service which the SMP does not seem to be aware of.

You should be able to see if this is the case by accessing the resource in question and checking its Agent Details window, as well as its services applet and IIS virtual directorieis.

    SK,

Yes, that was exactly what was happening, when I went back to see that machine.

I removed the Agent and reinstalled it and the errors went away. Strangely, this machine should have been a Task Site Server, but the Site Services were not set up properly in the DB and the Agent was badly installed as well.
