I'm trying to create an image from a PC and the task ends with "Bad block(s) encountered on read" error.

I start a "Create Image" task from the "GhostCast Server" (Symantec Ghost Solution Suite 2.5 - 11.5.0.2141) , boot the client from a MSDOS Network Boot disk and start the task using 'unicast'.

The clonig process fails at 14%.

The task fails if I use ghost 11.5. Using ghost 8.0 the task completes without any problem!

I've tried to use  the following switches with the same result:

    -FNI

    -NOIDE

    -FNI -FFX

    -NOUSB -NOIDE -NO1394

(If I use -FNX the task fails earlier...).

    Can anyone help?

     Thanks

In case it helps, the error message is:

Ghost will detect any problems on read and report them. As you would expect every version provides more and more robustness against errors and more and more reporting. Last thing you want is to silently read bad sectors into the image. You can answer yes to this message and yes to the next one so that ghost will ignore all "non critical" read problems. You can also use -fro switch to override and non-critical bad reads.

However I would suggest after you took an image you run chkdsk on full disk surface because it appears that your hard disk might have developed bad sectors.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the answer, I'll try the ckdsk.
