What do you mean you
What do you mean you downgrading to Windows XP? There is no downgrading term in cloning - what you captured is what you restore. If you captured XP you restore XP, if you captured Win7 you restore Win7. Can you please explain>
Thanks for your reply, i mean
Thanks for your reply, i mean to say like i cloned one mahcine with windows 7 or windows vista and now i want same mahcine with XP , so while doing the i am following the below:
1. Reboot the same mahcine with BOOT from CD option ( Ghost 11.0 CD )
2. Symantec Ghost 11.0 info will dispaly then click ok and got ot next.
3. Go to LOCAL >> PARTITION >> FROM IMAGE
4. Select the image which is on the D Drive of the same mahcine. like Win XP Sp3 image.
5. Once the image got installed it gives me message that " Clone completed Successful" After rebooting getting the below:-
Windows Boot Manager
I see. This is correct error.
I see. This is correct error. It happens because you are restoring a single partition from an image. When you are restoring a single partition ghost does not know whether it is a good idea to go and make this partition bootable and active because after all you are restoring a single partition out of many. If you want ghost to automatically fix up boot order then you need to restore an entire image to the disk, eg. local->disk->from image.
Alternatively in a single partition disk you may want to run following command post cloning: gdisk 1 /act /p:1. This will mark first partition as active. This quite likely is enough to make it boot.
As a rule of thumb alwasy remember that when ghost restores disk it will do everything for you including all system areas patchups, otherwise it does not.
