Ghost 14 installs on XP Pro, but hangs machine 5 minutes after reboot

Strange deal here.  I installed Ghost 14 on a fully patch XP Pro system (AMD based, 32-bit).  Ghost installs fine, but after rebooting, logging in, and running a few minutes, it just hangs up, and reboot required  again.  If I reboot again and let it sit without logging in, it hangs.  It's as though it eventually loads something it doesn't like well into the boot process.   From boot start-up to hang is around 4 minutes each time.

I've found that if I boot in SAFE MODE,  I can rename the Ghost folder name in Programs, and can then reboot and run successfully.  Attempts to run LiveUpdate caused an apparently new version of Ghost to download and install, but same "freeze" problem after that reboot.

It appears that some part of the Ghost program is getting loaded during the boot process and causes the hang, but it all happens before I can get-in and look at running processes, etc.  I’m open to ideas about how to track down the offending module, and a way to fix the issue of course. Sorry -- I wish I could be more definitive.

Did you look in the event log in case there are any reports of errors associated with the boot?
Also - check in the services list for any Ghost services, and set any you find to "Disabled" to see if it makes any difference.

Assuming your XP has not had System Restore disabled, you should also be able to restore your system to the restore point created by the Ghost install, and therefore effectively uninstall it. Then if the hang stops, you will know for sure that Ghost is to blame.
