i just installed Ghost  14.0 on a new 64 bit computer (op sys windows xp 64 bit).
I made a drive copy of the master drive. and tesed in the same machine.

windows starts to boot, but then hangs.

its a new drive, freshly formated with only one partition.

i used ghost 9.0 sucessfully on my previous computer and it save my live many
times as windows would go down and i would just pull my back up drive and i would be up
and running in a few minutes

what do i do?

thanks in advance.

Ghost for consumer is not a

Ghost for consumer is not a real ghost. It is a rebranded product from PowerQuest product line. Closest match you'll find under Backup exec system recovery forum built on same technology.

Hi there, I just read these

Hi there,

I just read these posts. I have a similar problem as carldz. I use partition images for a quick fix to a prior state should I catch a virus etc. Now, just yesterday my primary HD crashed. No problem, so I thought. Put in a new one, restore an image and voila - back up and running again. Well, the retoration worked well, Windows boots up, but then immediately logs me off again - I am unable to get it to complete a startup. I have restored other images (with other configurations) but none of them worked. I already created a fresh WinXP setup from my backup CD - that worked. So the drive and the computer are working ok, but I cannot restore the images created previously from another (my old, crashed) drive. Is there any drive specific info that needs to be manually adjusted prior to restoring images created from other drives.

I need help. Thanks

Tired of Waiting for Ghost

I'm tired of waiting for the fix to Ghost 14 so that it will work reliably with Windows 7. I've used Symantec products for many years and recently their service and apparent concern for loyal customers seems to have vanished. (I could tell you stories, , , ,).

My final test of Syamntec as someone I want to do business with will be to see if they ever manage to update Ghost 14 to work with Windows 7 at all. I hope they do because in these lean economic times it seems to be the companies who treat their customers well who survive.

In the meantime Acronis works well for my purposes and costs about half of what Ghost does.

I have all the best wishes for Synamtec but it will not surprise me to see them failing.

As I was saying earlier you

As I was saying earlier you are posting at the wrong forum - Norton Ghost has absolutely nothing in common with Symantec Ghost (part of GSS and real classic Ghost) that used to be also sold to consumers before 2003. Norton Ghost is a rebranded Powerquest backup product line for consumers.

Ghost 14 and entire harddisk clone problem

I used older Ghost from 2003 and used it to clone a hard disk so I figured Ghost 14 would be better for Windows XP pro. I used a Dell D810 laptop with Ghost 14 and connected an external hard disk. I wanted to make a complete boot able on a large drive. Everything seems to work and I checked the new hard disk and all the files seem to be there.

So I took out the original hard disk and installed the new larger hard disk and the computer seems to boot to the blue screen with the windows logo. At that point it just stops and I can't do anything else?
