I am having big issues trying to restore images using ghost 8 console on new Dell Vostro 1510 laptops.
I have successfully created an image. When I go to restore using multicast the restore locks up usaually around 30%. Sometime all works fine with a complete restore.
Searching the symantec kb on the log error suggests network issues and that unicast might work and it does work fine but takes hours.
Some things we have looked into with out success.
* We usually ghost the laptops on battery so we tried ghosting plugging them in with no more success.
* The network card is a Realtek RT8168C - we have tried getting a packet driver for this card with no success
* We tried the virtual partition and the ghost partition with no improvement.
* I have contacted Dell and they suggested updating the bios which we did with but no success there.
If I had to guess I would say that the network card appears to be turning off due to really agressive power management.
Not sure if this is related but if we leave the laptops on and connected to the network for a while they loose contact with the ghost console ie appear with the off icon.
This also makes it hard to run tasks on the laptops post install as they just drop off the radar.
We are really frustrated with this on. If anyone has any suggestions of paths we might follow it would really be appreciated.
Just for the record we have 100 other laptops and 250 desktops and ghost is working fine with them.
