We are about to upgrade to GSS 2.0  and in the past we havnt been able to make images of any computers with autocad, is that a common issue and will we be able to with gss 2.0?

I've not heard any reports of any incompatibility before; exactly what kind of problems were you having with the images in your current version of Ghost?

It may be quite likely that the licensing technology AutoDesk are using now is the root cause of the problem; in fact I found this old post in the Autodesk forums that says that the C-Dilla license management system's approach to nodelocking is the thing you have to watch for.

It may be that you have to script the Autocad license management into your console tasks to really make this procedure manageable; given the way that antipiracy software like C-Dilla works it's unlikely that Ghost will be able to work "underneath" it, and you'll probably have to follow AutoDesk's mandated procedures for license management.

In the past I used Imagecast and I also ran in to an issue with Autocad but it was on older versions.  I don't know when I changed somewhere around 2004.  I am pretty sure we are using 06 in the lab now and it imaged just fine.

You need a network license version of autocad.  Single client installs use machine specific info to make sure you cant run 100 copies off of your one license by just using ghost (or any imaging methodology).  Using a network license server allows you to install it any number of times but only X number will run because the license server controls how many concurrent uses can operate.  X number being the number of licenses you purchased.
