  • 1.  Ghost Client connects to PC but never clones the PC

    Posted Mar 09, 2010 05:03 PM
    Guys,

I have been working with a few Insprion 600m's for the company of mine. I managed to create an image for the 600M with the 57xx NIC driver and re-imaged 4 computers afterwards. However I have one with the same specs as the others that will not re-image.

The ghost client connects to the PC, reboots it, starts preparing configuration of the PC but it hangs and it states that it is polling for our ghost server. I have tried using the ghost server and booting from a WinPE CD but no success. And as stated before I tried using the ghost console with no success of re-imaging the computer.

    Any ideas?

Note: Guys I am not the smartest when it comes to ghosting, I have learned quite a bit than what I knew before and even taught my boss a couple of things. So I am all ears for the experts to chime in, I am at a loss here.

When you boot to the Windows PE disk, try running ipconfig/all at the command prompt: does this display a valid IP address? The best first step is determining that we have network support.

    Thank you,

    Randall,

First off, thanks for the input I appreciate it!

Second, I ran ipconfig and there is no IP address given. What would be the next step? (also I do have this connected via ethernet cable to a switch connected to our company's network.

    Hi there!
You will need to download the Windows Vista driver for that network card and add it to Windows PE. Here is the link for that driver:

    http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/driver-sla.php?driver=570x-Vista-32

Windows PE uses WIndows Vista drivers. Add this driver, make sure to check Vista and recreate the boot disk. If that doesn't work, verify the NIC in the device manager and get the Vista driver for it.

    Thank you,

    Randy

What if my OS is not Vista and it is XP?
