  • 1.  Ghost client hangs at 70% - loses IP address

    Hi experts,

We use GSS 1.1, set up remote install client on several machines all appears well. We go to set up a task to create an image file on a network attached device that the GSS console server sees. We have a small network of some 12 systems.

We start the task and the remote client reboots, starts the session and then hangs at 70% completion of image.

On the client the message is:

ABORT 503: connection timed out with GhostCode 19905.

It then keeps polling for the server - which it cannot find. We cannot ping the client, so it appears to have lost its IP address. The only way to get back to Windows 2000 is to type "ghreboot" at the client.

Any help or pointers would be appreciated.

It sounds like there's an issue with the DOS network drivers where they stop responding - whether it's a driver fault, or something like an IRQ conflict with some other hardware is hard to tell.

What network card is in your new machines, and what kind of hard disks are present (SATA or IDE)?

There is a "Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop Adapter" network card on each machine. There are two 80Gb IDE hard drives each on the client machine, and the server machine. There are no SATA drives present on either machine.

    Thanks and best // John
