  • 1.  Ghost console 8 configuration templates wildcard issue

    Hello,

I am using configuration templates which use wildcards in the names.  I am currently using 3 wildcards in the last positions of a 15 character name. In the template, the computer name looks like "computername***".  When ever I run a task in which I use this template, It says that there are not enough unique names available.  Is there any way to reset the count on this so I do not have to add a 4th wildcard?

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hi Martin,

Unfortunately there is no way to reset the count, as there is an unique ID in the database. Is there any particular reason for not wanting to add the fourth wildcard? Is it because the computer name you use is too long if you use the fourth wildcard?

It would just fit our naming convention, based on location and cube number, we actually recycle pc names in certain locations. It would make it easy when we have to deploy a bunch of pcs at once.  I can give them a generic name that is almost complete and then when we deploy them, just change the last 3 to fit the correct cube number.  Do you think there is a way to reset that in the database somehow?
