  • 1.  Ghost Image Failing on Panasonic Toughbook CF53

I am trying to create a Ghost Image on my new Panasonic Toughbook CF53 laptops using Symantic Ghost 2.5 (Ghost Cast Server 11.5.1), and can create the image, but when I load that image on a new and exact model Toughbook, then try to boot that Toughbook, I get a "Disk Read Error Occurred". Been doing it this same way on Dell laptops with no problems. Anyone know of anything special that I need to do with these Toughbook laptops in either creating the image, or loading it?

What operating system are you loading?  Are you using a disk image or a partition image?

If you are imaging Windows 7, you need to image both partitions, as missing out the hidden 100Mb partition will stop the device booting.

Does this toughbook use flash memory/SSD storage technology?

We are loading Win7 Pro, and doing a whole Disk Image. And yes, it does have a SSD hard drive in it. I have done similar disk imaging on Dell laptops with SSD hard drives, with no problems.

Is your Ghost version at 11.5.1.2266 or higher?

It might be worth a check with Panasonic to see if there is anything unusual about their SSD such as using Advanced Format (4K sectors).

You could also try the command line switch -align = 1mb  to see if that helps.

Thanks for all your help. I was able to contact Symantec, and they got me to create a bootable WinPE cd with the attributes -ib-ntexact-fdsp in it, and that fixed my issue. Thanks again!
