    Hello All,

I have been successful at creating some training laptops with a hidden partition and using the recovery kit, after training or if there is a problem, the system can be rre-imaged by pressing F3 on boot up to start the restore process.

We would like to carry this a bit further and use this on some regular users' systems,  however we are a little apprehensive about allowing them access to restore their own system.

Is there a way to incorporate a password prompt after the F3 or even before being able to press F3? I've looked at the XML file that re-writes the MBR, but have no idea if that is where it goes.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to accomplish this I would appreciate it.

    Thank You

    Bob

I don't know whether what you want to do is possible with GSS. Normally, I would say that if you cannot trust your users then don't give them the option.

However, the following article describes how to make a dual boot workstation as part of a wider WinPE familiarisation exercise.  You could add in a front end which needs a password before any restore takes place - it all depends on how much experience you have of coding small apps.
