Ghost Solution Suite

I cannot complete my installation for Ghost Solution Suite 3.0 on Windows Server 2012.  I consistently get the error message "Error creating/updating PreBootOs.ini"

I installed tried both the x64 and x86 versions of SqlExpress2014 (not sure that has anything to do with the problem).

Any ideas?

Did you install everything to C:\ ?   If not, try with everything installed on the C: drive.

Yes, I placed all my installation files (e.g., setup program; unzipped folder) on drive C: and I installed everything to Drive C: (I used the default directories on the C: drive).

Good news!  I got it installed.  Here is what I did:

The error was occurring during installation at 38% of unpacking data files.  I found an article at this url:

The only part applicable to my situation was removal of all files in my %temp% folder.

I also took the additional step of deleting the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Altiris

I then rebooted the system.

Installation now worked.

As I recall, I had cancelled my first attempt at installation.   I can’t help but wonder if that is what got my %temp% folder to get in a weird state.

I hope this will help others.

Did you at any point reboot your server between installation attempts?  It would be interesting to know the answer as it might indicate, if you did not reboot, that a file was locked by the original installation attempt and subsequent install attempts were then foiled as the file could not be updated.
