  • 1.  Ghost Solution Suite - Slow in image creation and restore

    Posted Sep 10, 2007 10:58 AM
Just wondering if anyone knows why it takes upwards of 9 hours or more to create an image and over 8 hours to restore an image? Both the console and client are on a 100 mb LAN connection and I'm only doing one test client. This is an unacceptable rate for image creation and or restoring.

I've tried directed broadcast, unicast, and multicast and nothing seems to work. I've also tried setting the NIC at 10mbs and 100mbs, full duplex, half duplex, etc and still nothing.

Any suggestions /  help would be appreciated

    Thanks

    Hi Bob,

There are multiple reasons why image creation/restore could be slower. Network driver could be one of the main reasons, and the type and setup of the hard disks could impact this too.

What kind of machines/network cards do you have, and what version of Ghost? Is this issue only impact a single type/model of a machine?

I am using Ghost 8.3 to create images from a pc using an intel 1000 nic.  Does anyone know why the transfer speed is only 7 mb/min?  I have changed the nic to 100mb/half duplex and  updated nic drivers but still only 7 mb/min.

I ran into the same problem. Decided to ditch creating/restoring images via the network & instead used usb or cd/dvds to boot ghost.exe & created/restored images using usb ext HDs.  Am now able to create/ restore images in under 10 minutes.
