  • 1.  Ghostcast creating and restoring partition image

    Posted Apr 12, 2009 06:11 AM
    Dear All,

I have a ghostcast server version 8.2.0.1117. I tried to create a partition image using it and when I tried to retsore it, the "accept client" button is not accessible.

So, please, feed me with the way that I can use to create the partition image and the way to restore it.

    Hi,

GhostCast server does not enable Accept Clients button till all the necessary details are given. Check to see if you have entered all the data.

If you are trying to do a partition restore, you have to select partition radio button, and then select the partition in the drop down list next to it. Most likely, you would not have selected the partition.

    Dear Krish,

I have selected the radio button of the partition, but, the partition drop down list is empty. So, how can I fill it?

    Hi,

Till you select the image, it will be empty. Have you selected the image?

Basically, you have to give a session name, restore is selected by default, then you have to browse and select the image. Once you do that and select the partition radio button, partitions in the image are available in the drop down list.

You are trying to restore a partition from an image, OK? Or you are trying to create it? From your first post I thought the creation was successful.

    Dear Krish,

During the image creation, I did the following:
    1. Give a session name.
    2. Select the create image radio button.
    3. Select the directory that I will save the image in.
    4. Select the radio button of partiton.
After the fifth step, the drop down list isn't active. Finally, the image was create successfully. This is the way I use to create the partition Image, is it right?

If yes, please feed me with the steps needed to restore the partition image as, like I stated before in the last post, the partition drop down list is empty.

    Hi,

When creating the image, it is slightly different. If you select the partition create, either you can chose the partitoin from Ghost (at the client) or you can select the disk and partition numbers. Since there is no image, the drop down list is not available.

When you restore the image, if you still want to use the partition restore,
    1. Give a session name
    2. Select restore image and then browse and select the image
    3. select partition restore
At this point, partition dropdown list should be available. If it is not, may be the image is not created correctly. Could you check the size of the image from Windows? And could you try to open it from Ghost explorer?

I am having a similiar issue, I selected to create an image of the entire disk however I only want to restore the C:\ partition. When I load the image and select partition, the drop down menu is empty on GhostCast Server.

Can someone please explain what I'm doing wrong?

    thank you
