A colleague of mine is trying to use ghost (from GSS 1.1) via the console or via floppy disc to ghost a Satellite Pro A100 laptop (he has 8 to do). Whenever it gets to running Ghost the laptop freezes. He has tried various switches to no avail.

Has anyone had a similar problem or has anyone got some advice on how to get around this? (Other than try a different laptop!)

Has he tried the -nousb switch?
Someone else had similar problem on a Toshiba tablet PC and managed to get it going using -nousb switch.

    Hi Paul,

Do you get an error message back when Ghost freezes? Try exiting Ghost by pressing Ctrl+C and waiting for Ghost to exit back into DOS.

Then try to find a file called "ghosterr.txt".

    Hi Paul

In our company we had similar problems, example:

on new PC?s with Asus mainboard our ghost freeze too (start with dos netbeui disc) or on new Supermicro server in the ghost program we could not enter any numbers (start with dos netbeui disc)

Our problem solution: we create a ip network boot disc (from www.netbootdisk.com) and start the ghost.exe from a network share

We used an old ghost version, i think it is a memory or driver problem

im pulling my hair out with this one....had the same problem with lenova desktops but anyway thats sorted.

but here is the toshiba story..
    toshiba a100

    30 to image

me and 2 other collegues had to do 60 alltogether..... they had no luck so installed 30 manually with windows xp and office and additional programs.......

the laptops have no floppy so i used an external usb floppy drive ive also put it on cd and booted from that... ive played around with enable usb override and tried msdos instead of pc dos... ive tried the switches mentioned.. ive updated the laptop firmware... the switches mentioned (i assume you enter these into the parementer when creating your network boot disk) ive tried turning off usb options in bios and touchpad.... with what options it has....very limited.... my only other thing im going to try tommorw is a different driver.... instead of the realteck 8139 i think thats it. any other suggestions.....
