This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hello Champs,

Just INstalled 2012 and a lot confused by it UI.

I can not create B2D folders, I canot give my backup files a name.

Scenario is:-

I have two shares to backup :- share A  on server 1 and share B on server 2

I need to backup them to local drive of BE server.

How to create a backup policy so that they are backed up in diffrent folders with sopcific share name??

Thanx in advance..:-)

No more Backup-to-Disk folders and it is Disk Storage starting from BE 2012.

You can have only one disk storage configured per volume. Use Configure Storage Wizard to create disk storage.

Not possible to create folders inside disk storage to seperate backups. if you insist to seperate them, you can have two different disk storages, on two different volumes due to one DS per volume limitation.

...and i do not remember any option to save .bkf files with backupset/selection names! I too wait for some others in forum to confirm!

Many people have raised the issue of being able to name their B2D files, and many have stated that ideas need to be added in.

Your B2D name would allow you to identify your files, but the file names themselves are generated by the system...add this in as an Idea and with enough votes, it MIGHT be considered for a future release, although this isn't a guarantee.

Decide and configure proper retention policies. Consider company policy, backup size and storage space available while deciding retention policies. If configured properly, you no need to delete backups from disk manually. BE takes care of that.

EDIT: Even then, incase if you want to delete, you can delete from storage tab of the console where backups sets will be visible. See the attached screenshot..
