Good Sender Domains not working
Updated: 21 May 2010 | 11 comments
This issue has been solved. See solution.
I have Brightmail 8.0.3.
If I place a domain in the Reputation => Good Senders => Local Good Senders Domain I would assume this would allow all email from this domain.
But when email fails one other test like Content Compliance it deletes emails acourding to that rule. "System allowed email address or domain, Content Compliance violation: Junk"
How can I get it to make sure any emails from Good Senders are allowed.
Thanks.

The good senders domains is
The good senders domains is only for spam, not for virus or compliance checking. You would need to create a different group to apply that compliance policy to.
Why are you trying to filter spam with a compliance rule? You should try lowering your suspected spam threshold if you are seeing too much spam. Compliance Policies are not for filtering spam, they are for applying rules to comply with your company's rules and policies.
Hi Fred, You can use "Bypass
Hi Fred,
You can use "Bypass compliance policy" action to bypass the compliance policy or policies if you want to ensure that emails from Good Senders are not touched by the compliance policies.
Please see "Bypass compliance policy" action in Table 3-2 on page 61 and Table A-5 on page 522 in Symantec Brightmail Gateway 8.0 Administration Guide.

Looked at creating a compliance policy to bypass but did not see a way to refer to the Good Senders list. Is this possible or do I need to create a new dictionary.
You need to add the "Bypass
You need to add the "Bypass compliance policy" action to the Good Senders policy (Reputation > Good Senders > Local Good Senders Domain) under the Actions section.

And for personal good senders domain list?
Hi Adnan,
There is a way to bypass compliance policy when sender domain or address is registered in a Personal Good Sender List (is not Local Good Sender Domains)?
Thanks in advance
Fabiano
Hi Fabiano, Think about this:
Hi Fabiano,
Think about this: If your company has set compliance policies to track various violations in emails coming from outside, do you really want to give your end users the power to bypass the compliance policies and receive emails that violate these policies and potentially harm the company?
The answer is no.

Adnan

Ok, i am in contact with BCS talking about this. The problem is the amount of undesired messages that we are receiving. Can be a problem with my produtct or with my configuration. Thanks a lot.
