Hi,

I'm trying to do a granular restore of a public folder on a server running Exchange 2003.  The BE server and Exchange server are the same machine.
Setting up the restore job is fine, the folder to backup gets listed in the selections, and the device containing the backup is online, credentials are fine too.

I have restored similar items in the past with no problems.  I found another post that had a similar item that said the user for the credentials must have a mailbox in order to do a granular restore.  I created a mail box for the "BE backup" I was using to do the restore,  I also tried using Administrator for credentials which has a mailbox that is used.

When i run the job, i get:

Completed status: Failed
Final error: 0xe000848c - Unable to attach to a resource. Make sure that all selected resources exist and are online, and then try again. If the server or resource no longer exists, remove it from the selection list. Edit the selection list properties, click the View Selection Details tab, and then remove the resource.
Final error category: Resource Errors

For additional information regarding this error refer to link V-79-57344-33932

I have also tried using different backup files, tried restoring other public folder items.  All immediately fail with the error above.  I would think it has to do with a permission set wrong somewhere, but am at a loss for troubleshooting this.  I hope you can help me figure this out!

Hello, Create a new account

Hello,

Create a new account in AD named : symantec with following settings:
1  : Member of the Domain Admin group and Local Admin Group if Exchange is a member server
2  : Create a Mailbox for Symantec, send a test email and oprn it in OWA to activate the Mailbox.
3  : Make sure that the Mailbox is not hidden from the Global Address List.
4  : Add the account "symantec" as Exchange Server Administrator in Exchange Management Console.

Open Backup Exec, go to TOOLS--Logon Accounts and Change the Logon Account to "symantec", make sure that "system Logon Account" and "Default Logon Account" is symantec.

Now restore any individual item from exchange backups.

Hope this helps...

Its a best practice to have a "Support Contract" with Symantec...
