  • 1.  Group and Policy migration from Sav 10 to Sep 11

I am currently working on a migration from Sav10 to Sep11.  I'm looking at using the 'Migration and Deployment Wizard' to migrate/import all the Client Groups and Policies from one particular Sav10 Site.

    I came accross this thread - https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/migration-issues-sav-10x-sep-11x

Which looks like it answers my question, but I'd like to be 100% sure.

This isn't going to remotely install the clients to the clients that are in the Client Groups I'm importing is it?  Everything stays as is in the Sav10 environment?

The reason I'm second guessing myself is that appears that the wizard is asking me to create the client install packages to use for the deployment and I'm not able to bypass this part of the wizard.  I don't need the client packages created at this time.  I would just like to import the Client Groups.

    TIA

There is nothing you can export from SAV and import into SEP. It is like a fresh install. I had to run both environments for over a year until all clients were migrated to SEP.

How many Clients and servers do you have. This migration will only import your groups and policies.

For installation you will have to push the packages to the client using migration and deployment wiz like Client Remote install in 10.x

If you don't have  complex groups and policies.
Then no need to do this Step.

Just login to SEPM ..add Groups..create and assign policies ( like centralized exception or if you want any non-default policy) ..export install packages..start pushing them.
