I am in charge of a process control system that has 4 servers and 8 workstations. The servers are dual redundant Dell 2850's and the workstations are Dell Optiplex systems. My question is this. Can I install GSS 2.0 client to all the workstations and servers and use one of the workstations as a console and then use that console to image the servers and workstations?
The systems are all W2K server and W2k professional.

Ghost console works on w2k pro as well. and you can use this console to manage the servers and workstations.

Thanks for the reply...just to be sure...I can image all the workstations and servers from the one workstaion designated as the console? Is the image similar to a Ghost 9.0 or Ghost 10 image except it's done centrally over the network?

How does Ghost manage 'open' files on the server i.e SQL files?

GSS is quite different from ghost 9.0 and ghost 10.0
I forgot to mention that in order to create/restore image, you have to reboot your machine. This is why some of the people say GSS does not work with server platform. But so far I don't have any problem to create/restore image for my 2k3 server. only downside is that I had to restart the machine. hope this answers your question. :)

I am going to install the trialware GSS to explore this create/restore reboot scenario.
I can see rebooting after a restore but a reboot after creating an image? I am not sure if I can live with that.
