  • 1.  GSS 2.0 > GSS 2.5 Upgrade

    Hi,
    I would just like to check something before I upgrade my GSS from 2.0 to 2.5.
    After backing up my database and installing the latest 2.5 upgrade, will my clients from the version 2.0 still be visible in the console? I read somewhere that I may have to reassociate the Client computers with the new console. If this is the case, I will hold off the upgrade until the summer break.
    Also, will all my Machine Groups and configuration Resources remain in tact?

    Where and how to obtain the upgrade? The copy of GSS in my company came with a maintainence license.  But it doesn't seem Symantec has shipped anything to us at all....

    Hi Comet,
     
    You wil need to login to the licensing Portal, and click on the 'Get Software' button at the top. After inputting your serial number, agree to the EULA, and you will be presented with a list of available software for download.

    Unless you have a corrupt database or some other unforseen issue, you should be able to upgrade GSS 2.0 to 2.5 and have it keep all your clients and tasks as they were.   I upgraded and didn't have any issues with my previous tasks or clients be there afterwards.

    Hello,

    Is there a documented procedure for upgrading GSS 2.0 to GSS 2.5? I have seen numerous tips, but wonder if there is a clear-cut procedure from Symantec.
