  • 1.  GSS 2.5 Deployanywhere error message: Exception Caught || Errors=Exception Caught || Error

    I'm getting this error when trying to run deployanywhere in both normal and /eval mode

     

    Occurs on both Dell D600 and D800 laptops

    (D620s and 820s work properly)

     

    The D600 has 512MB Ram

     

    The D800 has 1024MB Ram

     

    Ghost is completely up to date.

     

    Running Deployanywhere from a WinPE (not 512) Ghost Boot CD

    Can you please add the /debug switch to the DA command line and post the resulting ghdplyaw32.txt file to michael_franklin at symantec dot com?

    A couple of questions:

     

    does the failure take a long time to happen or does DA fail within the 'normal' time it would take to retarget?

     

    is the target c: or something else?

    Your Ghost Server isn't running as a Hyper-V virtual machine by any chance is it TC? I used to have ours as a VM under Hyper-V and I would always get that same useless "Exception Caught" error when using DeployAnywhere. I never did figure it out and have since moved the server to physical hardware (works great now).

    In case the TC and I are in a similar situation I'll mention that the "Exception Caught" error happened immediately after the Evaluating DeployAnywhere step. I could watch the commands as they were received by the client and it would go "Evaluating DeployAnywhere..." then boom, "Error: Exception Caught" a few seconds later.

    My ghost server is running on a VM; However, I don't run a deployanywhere task from the console. I use a standalone WinPE ghost boot disc to perform it. This shouldn't be affected by what type of hardware my ghost console is on?
