  • 1.  GSS 3.0 - What's The Status of the Return of the Old Virtual Partition From GSS 2.5?

Inquiring as the status of the old "virtual partition" used in GSS 2.5 deployment of images.

We're a college campus with over 8000 PCs (W7 x64 Enterprise).  We've been using GSS 2+ since it came out which meets our needs satisfactorily.  We're soon to begin using newer hardware in our computer lab environments which is going to make imaging harder due to the need for Vista drivers, though there are Symantec workarounds for getting WinPE 5 to work with GSS 2.5.

Since the "Beta Release" of GSS 3.0, it has been promised that the older "virtual partition" from GSS 2.5 would be upcoming.  The current "Automation Partition" doesn't work for us.

Any update would be greatly appreciated!

I realized that it don't work for us eitther. We are inibed from working with pxe, so it has to be with local partition. The automation partition isn't working because we have dual boot, and when we change the active partition for changing the boot order, the automation partition comes in between and hangs!

Very frustating! At this point almost 2 months of tests, and i'm unable to find a stable solution for deployng windows 8 for our 700 pc's on the universyty!!!

From Ghost Solution Suite 3.0 HF3 onwards, you can install and uninstall an Automation Folder on client computers.
You must first create an Automation Folder configuration using the Boot disk creator.

Note: Currently Ghost Solution Suite supports installation of automation folder only for Windows operating system.
