  • 1.  GSS2.0 and Windows 2003 SP2

    Has GSS 2.0 server and console been tested on Windows 2003 SP2 / Windows 2003 R2 SP2? The web site lists 2003 SP1 and 2003 R2 (no SP1) as requirements but doesn't address whether these OS levels will work on not. Thanks.

    I do not know about Symantec testing this on Server 2003 R2, but I am using that for GSS 2 (Actually I was using it with GSS 1.1 on the same server).

    Halo. I'm using GSS 2.0.1 with Windows 2003 SP2 and no problems so far.
    also I thought that windows 2003 R2 contain the SP1.
    so I think windows 2003 -> windows 2003 SP1 > windows 2003 R2 > windows 2003 SP2
    not sure whether there is windows 2003 R2 SP2.
    I thought that windows 2003 SP2 should contain whaterver is in windows 2003 R2 + some more stuff.

    You are correct in that R2 includes SP1... plus new features beyond the service pack. However, SP2 is for both Windows 2003 non-R2 and Windows 2003 R2. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsserver/bb286758.aspx 

    Some systems requirements pages for other Symantec software list "or higher" when they state Windows 2003 SP1 or Windows 2003. The GSS 2 page does not list those words or anything about SP2.... just SP1 and R2. Hence, my original question. Good to know that others are using SP2 with this without any issues.
