    Hello,

I currently am running Symantec Ghost Solution Suite 2.0 and have a new issue now. Thanks to Nigel, my others were fixed, but this is a new one.

I currently have Re-Image tasks setup to Clone AND Configure PC's. When these are launched, the Ghost tasks goes thru it's paces just fine until it hits the Configuration part of it. It keeps on failing out for some reason.

Yet when I have a "manually" imaged PC (utilizing a boot CD and selecting the same PC image) and run a standalone configuration task (to add it to the domain) it works just fine. No problems whatsoever.

When I look in the Task Log, the failed part states "An error occurred on the client but the error file could not be retrieved."

I have attempted to re-create the task (Copying the task configuration from another Ghost 1.1 server) with no luck. I have also made sure that the PC's AD account was manually deleted from AD before the configuration happened.

For some reason, when a Clone and Configure happens, the Configure fails. Standalone, it works perfect.

I am at a loss currently. Any help would be appreciated on this.

    -Dustin

Oh, I almost forgot something important.

The client goes thru the Cloning step and upon reboot kills off the session with the Ghost Server, and then goes into a PXE Boot type of configuration (even though I don't use PXE).

When I hit Ctrl+C to quit out of that, it says it can't boot because a system file is missing from C:\Windows\System32.

Therefore, I don't even have an OS on the drive.

Let me try and figure out what actually is happening. You are restoring an image to a client and after the restore you want to run a configuration step. But after the restore the client does not boot back to Windows and it seems that the operating system was wiped.

Some background information: in GSS 2.0, the Configuration step was moved to happen right after the clone, when the client is still in DOS.

    A few questions for you:
    1. Does the clone step succeed? Are there any warnings, errors?
    2. The error that you see "error occurred on client" is a comment for which of the task steps?
    3. Would it be possible for you to paste the contents of the task log for the failing task in here?
    4. Did the task to CREATE the image you're restoring contain Sysprep step?
    5. Can you disable the PXE boot in the BIOS of the client and see what happens after the clone?

I'm not too sure what is happening but there are a few avenues we can explore if you're willing to try a few things.

    Thanks,
    Aggie

    Ok, to answer your questions:

The Clone step succeeds, it is the Configuration step that fails.
This is the error I get:
"An error occurred on the client but the error file could not be retrieved."

There is no other logs that I am able to find.

Sysprep is not used currently and no Sysprep steps are part of ANY tasks.

PXE boot is Not enabled in BIOS on the PC's.

    Every step
