This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hello,

Just wanna know many things son the SEP 12.1.

I have a problem on the GUP side my GUP get updates on the SEPM and it is the one reponsible on the distributing of the updates on the computer on that group, but i think my GUP has a problem and cannot distribute update on the sep client.

Here are my concerns.

1.) I want to know where the "SharedFolder" on the GUP computers resides on the SEP 12.1? Do it still exist on the SEP 12.1, if yes where? if not What is the new name of the folder for the GUP?

On sep 11 it resides on the c:\program files\symantec\symantec endpoint protection\Sharedfolder but i cant see it on the SEP 12.1

2.) Also how do i determine if the GUP port 2967 is close or open.? how if it is close how do i open it? for GUP.

3.) How do i determine if the GUP has a problem?

Any reply is a big help for me.. Thanks a lot team symantec

thanks Sir,

Answers

Hello,

Here are the Answers:

Answer 1:

The default location for the SharedUpdates folder has been changed in SEP 12.1.

For 32 bit machine, it is located in
C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\12.1.x.x.x\Bin\SharedUpdates.

For 64 bit machine, it is located in
C:\Program Files(x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\12.1.x.x.x\Bin64\SharedUpdates.

Answer 2:

Check the Firewall settings.

Also, you can perform a Netstat on the GUP machine to check if the port is being used.

Answer 3:

Check this Tool -

SEP Content Distribution Monitor / GUP monitoring tool.

Hope that helps!!
