  • 1.  Having a considerable amount of trouble deploying SEP cleint to a server I am using.

This is pretty much a continuation of my previous question. I did try the fixes listed with the SYSLINK.XML file to no avail. I have also attempted to run cleanwipe and re install SEP entirely. The box went from a gold shield stating it could not communicate, to one that had NO gold shield at all, SEP WAS listed in the program files, but when I checked the services they were not in place. I have tried to run cleanwipe and re install and no matter what it still does NOT work. Please help!!!!!!!! :-( :-(  I have tried to install this 2 times and when I did, BOTH times I did, the OS would not come up until I ran the "last good config".

     Can you post the SEP_INST.log

    from start - run - %temp%\SEP_INST.log

Search for Return Value 3 and post the 10 lines above the return value 3

The system seems to be infected causing this issue. Uninstall the SEP client if it is still installed. If you have another working machine with SEP client installed and updated with the latest definitions, map the C drive of the machine in question and do a full scan.

Then try to install SEP again. Let me know if this helps :-)

I had the most current version of SAV installed previously, and it was current, it did not list any infected items. Also, even if the server was not communicating to this client, wouldn't SEP still provide scan detection of infected items anyway? This has happened on two machines so far. This is something I need to have addressed before I go large scale, and I need to know what the cause of this is. I used NoNav to remove the OLD SAV and Cleanwipe to remove SEP. No matter what. It communicated for MOST of the day, and then it dropped and when the restart occured is when I had the problem and needed to revery using "last know good config"

This was my fault, I made a big mistake by not checking the HW requirements before hand, I needed to have 256 or more, this machine had 224 free and the other had 128.

If you can not get past the last known good config page, you shold be able to get into "Safe mode" where you will need to use the "Cleanwipe" utility to get the machine operational again.
