Help deploying Backup Exec thru SCCM 2007

Created: 22 Mar 2012 | 1 comment

Hi Guys

I am having issues deploying a Backup Exec (DLO Agent) thru SCCM 2007. I created a collection with only with 3 test computers, and then created the package with the msi file and the command line for the execution. I have already tested the MSI file with the proper command line locally on a computer to verify everything that the software and commandline is working. Here is the commandline i am using:

msiexec.exe /q /i "Symantec Backup Exec Desktop Agent.msi" DEFAUL
TMEDIASERVER="server" DLODBINSTANCENAME="BKUPEXEC" LAUNCHCLIENT="1"

I know that i need to enter the Backup exec server in the command line where it says server. I have done that.

From the log, it seems to start the job well in SCCM, but it does struggle with the installation itself. By the way, should i be using .exe or .msi file for the deployment?

You may try enabling verbose msi logging as mentioned in : http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/hu/configmgrswdist/thread/291c6dd2-03fe-417f-97f4-02165e7e88e5

Hope this helps.
