  • 1.  Help installing SEP Inline update on failed previous installation

    I renewed our license today.  When I looked at the downloads the only available downloads were for inline updates. Will this work for installing a new installation on a recently failed drive which had our previous installation on it. Our software was downloaded online and we do not have a backup copy if we need to reinstall the older software which was expiring in a couple weeks. What do you recommend we do.

    What version of 12.1 are you currently on?

    We were on Version 11.?.

    So the latest version of 12.1 is 12.1 RU2 MP1. However, you need to first go to 12.1 RU2 than you can go to 12.1 RU2 MP1

    Upgrading or migrating to Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.2100 (RU2 MP1)

    The partition the software was on was erased accidentally with a repartitioning software. We had the latest version of 11.X and we were going to be renewing and installing version 12. We have renewed and downloaded the keys for this version. This was a Small Business Pack for 25 users.

    Do you have a backup from which you can do a restore?

    The Antivirus was not backed up. I wish we had a cd to reinstall it back on our server.

    Than yes a fresh install will be needed.

    You can download the latest SEP version from https://fileconnect.symantec.com using your serial number and install it.

    Since you were using SEP 11.x (Enterprise Edition by definition), you wouldn't have been able to "upgrade"

    to SEP Small Business Edition (SBE) anyway; that is considered a "downgrade".

    You will need to fully remove ALL installed SEP 11 clients before you can deploy 12.1 SBE
